Tourism potential of Greater Mekong Subregion untapped

Tourism potential of the Greater Mekong Subregion has not yet been fully tapped due to poor infrastructure and human resources, worsened by cumbersome immigration procedures, said tourism officials.During a recent "survey trip" by tourism officials of the three countries of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, they discovered that roads from the border gate in Vietnam to Cambodia's Kratie extend 230 km but are not in good condition. In addition, many travel companies want to organize tours but have been unable to do so because of immigration procedures. Caravan tours between cultural and historic sites in the three countries have faced challenges."We need strong links between the three nations to deal with immigration. In addition, more investment for infrastructure, including roads, services and rest stops, is needed," said Ho Tan Cuong, vice director of Vietnam's central Quang Nam provincial Culture, Sports and Tourism Department, who joined the trip.A tourism route could begin or end at Angkor Wat in Cambodia to Laos' Vat Phou temple, to the Central Highlands provinces in Vietnam to learn about the gong culture. The final stop could be the My Son sanctuary and the historical town of Hoi An in central Vietnam, Cuong's suggestion was quoted by local Vietnam News daily on Friday.Tourists could enjoy the cultural values of three countries via road and air means. Trips on roads from Vietnam to Laos and Cambodia are now convenient.Sanitary napkin Good tourism services along with good cultural preservation would attract lots of tourists.

In recent years, Cambodia and Laos have become more attractive to many Vietnamese tourists.Data from the Vietnam Administration of Tourism revealed that in the first ten months of 2013, more than 700,000 Vietnamese tourists visited Cambodia. This represented 21 percent of international tourists in Cambodia, an increase of 11.5 percent compared to the same period last year, and the highest proportion of foreign tourists to Cambodia.According to Tran Phu Cuong, deputy head of the Tourism Authority's International Co-operation Department, tourism development co-operation among Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia has been negotiated since 1994. Enterprises have been asked to take part in the promotion programs and more negotiations between governments and the private sector were encouraged. At the 32nd annual meeting on tourism development among the three countries, held in Kampot, Cambodia, in early December 2013, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) announced a support loan of 100 million U.S. dollars for tourism infrastructure projects in the subregion.Accordingly, the funds will be used for seaport construction, waste water treatment for tourism areas, green tours on sea, and tourism development with the participation of local communities.alkyd resinThe Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) comprises Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, and China's Yunnan Province.China tourist visa About 240 million people live in the GMS region. In 1992, with the assistance of ADB, the six countries entered into a program of sub-regional economic cooperation, designed to enhance economic relations among the countries.

Seven deadly sins of bathroom design: what to avoid

The bathroom is an area of space in the home that has become increasingly popular in terms of importance and design over the years. Gone are the days of a room built for practical personal hygiene as more choices for design, appliances and furniture become available.Getting the most out of a limited space can be a difficult process and quite often there are essential elements to the design that are not considered. Too often the dreams of a bathroom sent from heaven become a living nightmare.Lanyard StrapWith this in mind, below are the seven deadly sins of bathroom design:1. Considering all guests: The home should be a place that all close family members and relatives visit in comfort. If a family has members that are elderly then an awkward bathroom to use may stop them from coming to visit. With a few simple bathroom solutions such as grab bars and disabled access into bathing areas the ease of accessibility will be improved significantly. By implementing a few extra elements is could provide the difference to making a comfortable and relaxed home for all the family. For those with an upstairs bathroom, a curved stair lift may be needed to gain access to this important area.2. Waterproofing: Quite often the design takes over the focus of the bathroom. It needs to be 100% waterproof to prevent any leaks, rotting wood and other unsightly and damaging aspects water can create for the home. A percentage of the budget on re- designing a bathroom should always have the waterproofing covered.

3. Cheaper options: Sometimes the cheaper option isn’t always the best. When buying tiles or appliances the idea is to have a sense of longevity in the product. Bathrooms should not be replaced or redesigned often so ensure that the appliances bought are of good quality. A toilet seat breaking or a tap snapping after a few years can be one of the biggest annoyances.4. Design plans: From a toilet in front of the door to a sink that knocks an elbow, many bathrooms are of a small size and sometimes the placement can be inconsiderate of the bigger picture. Make sure that the plans are drawn down and measurements are taken fully to appreciate what it will be like in the room once completed. These permanent fixtures will cost more money to change around should a mistake be made.5. No natural light: Too often a bathroom can appear stuffy and enclosed without the use of natural light. A bathroom should always have a window; not only will it make the room light and airy but it will give the appearance of being larger.6. Condensation: A major sin is not considering the way air, moisture and steam passes through the bathroom.Vintage bath fixtures A room that is wet and dry many times throughout the day needs a proper airway system with quality extractor fans or vents to starve off any mould issues.7.crystal light Stick with the simple appliances: Don’t be worried about staying in with the designs of today and opting for an eccentric appliance. Many people now look on with their avocado coloured bath with disdain and this could be the same for some of the colour options of today. Pearl white has never gone out of fashion and won’t seem out of date once the next trend is realised so is always a safe option.

The Bathroom Faucet Buyer’s Guide

Bathroom faucets are faucets specifically made to fulfill the needs of the bathroom. During a total bathroom renovation you have the option of choosing the faucet first and then selecting a sink that matches your faucet. Whichever way you decide to go, you must consider your sink when choosing a bathroom faucet.Widespread bathroom faucets are faucets where the handles are separate from the spout. Widespread faucets handles are usually 8 inches apart from each other and are connected to the spout below the sink by pipes and tubes. The spread of the handles makes them easy to clean because you can reach the entire handle and spout, however the accumulation of water between the handles is a common complaint.Mini-widespread faucets are the little sister of widespread faucets. The handles of mini-widespread faucets are usually 4 inches apart from one another and the spout and handles connect beneath the sink in a single unit. Mini-widespread faucets tend to be low profile, making them a fantastic option for those that would like the look of a widespread faucet but have a shelf or medicine cabinet hanging within a few inches of the faucet, eliminating the option of a widespread.

Centerset faucets include the faucet spout and handles in one compact unit. Although the spout and handles are in one unit, centerset faucets still require 3 faucet holes. Centerset faucets can be slightly hard to clean because the handles are so close to the spout, leaving small nooks and crevices for dirt and grime to form.Single hole faucets combine the spout and handle into one unit. Single hole faucets, also known as single handle faucets, leave more countertop space for toiletries and are easy to clean.Vintage faucets While most single hole faucets have a modern aesthetic and are very streamlined, the increased demand for single hole faucets means there are now many traditional and contemporary options on the market as well. Tall single hole faucets are often paired with countertop and vessel sinks, and are commonly called vessel faucets. The material of the outside of the faucet, or the finish, is the first thing homeowners look for when choosing a faucet. Luckily, bathroom faucets come in a variety of finishes,Lamp shade allowing you to choose a faucet that matches the other fixtures in the bathroom. Each finish ages differently and requires a range of maintenance.Perhaps the most common bathroom faucet finish, chrome is a universal neutral that works with a variety of décor aesthetics. Chrome also shines where light hits it to add a little sparkle to the bathroom without overpowering. Because of its shinny surface, chrome shows fingerprints and water spots very easily. Like with stainless steel refrigerators, many homeowners complain that they feel they must constantly wipe the fingerprints off their faucet. This maintenance should be a consideration when its time to make a purchase.A close second to chrome in terms of popularity, brushed nickel is a more muted silver metal. The nickel of the faucet receives a special treatment to form a brushed appearance on the surface of the faucet. The brushed finish prevents disguises most water spots and finger prints. Therefore, brushed nickel bathroom faucets require very little maintenance.

Myanmar's power distribution network to improve with ADB loan

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has recently provided a loan of 60 million U.S.Menstrual Cup dollars for improving Myanmar's power distribution network with an aims to ensure better access to electricity by some 480,000 households in four regions - Yangon, Mandalay, Sagaing and Magway. An ADB expert said that repairing and strengthening existing electricity infrastructure will help reduce system loss.According to the expert, technical and non-technical loss from Myanmar's aging power distribution system before electricity reached subscribers were as high as 18.2 percent in 2012.The ADB loan will fund rehabilitation work for more efficient electricity transmission, which covers upgrading of some sub- stations, replacing distribution lines and transformers and upgrading to digital revenue meters. The project will cut distribution loss by 4 percent and subsequently allow large industries and small and medium enterprises to expand their services.Under the soft loan agreement, the pay-back period is 24 years (2022-2045), including an 8-year grace period, with an interest rate of 1 percent in the grace period and 1.5 percent in the pay- back period. The ADB pledged to assist Myanmar's infrastructural development in terms of technology, finance, communication and sustainable energy during ADB President Haruhiko Kurodamade's visit to Myanmar in February this year.Vintage faucets

A survey showed Myanmar's electrification ratio grew from 16 percent in 2006 to 28 percent in 2012 with Yangon city having the highest ratio of 72 percent, followed by Nay Pyi Taw at 65 percent and Mandalay at 35 percent. The survey revealed that only about one in five rural households has access to electricity grid.In addition to updating Myanmar's electricity transmission and preventing technical loss,Lamp shade the ADB is playing a coordination role between Myanmar ministries concerned for the country's energy management, assisting in preparing Myanmar's energy policy, amending the electricity law, designating the national transmission and distribution code and establishing electric equipment standard. Moreover, a 20-year energy master plan is being worked out with the help of the bank, which includes promoting off-grid rural energy access and helping the government set up private-public partnership for power system expansion.Myanmar was able to settle 512 million dollars' debt in January this year owed to the ADB.

Nokia's new 2520 tablet is one to avoid

There's just not much to recommend about the device. Its design is unremarkable. Its screen is of lower resolution than those of its competitors. Its app store lacks the breadth and depth of selection that you'll find for other tablets. And if those weren't enough reasons to be unimpressed, there's this: It runs a version of Microsoft's Windows that seems destined for the scrap heap because it has struggled mightily to find an audience among either consumers or device manufactures. In short, if you're shopping for a tablet this holiday season, I'd pass on the Lumia 2520.Nokia used to be a powerhouse in the mobile device industry, and has long been known for making high-quality hardware. But nearly three years ago, the company linked its fate to Microsoft and subsequently saw its sales, profit and market share plunge.Despite those results, Nokia has stuck with Microsoft's Windows Phone software and now has chosen to enter the tablet market with a device running an out-of-favor Windows flavor: Windows RT.Microsoft designed Windows RT so its partners could offer Windows-based tablets that could compete with Apple's iPad in terms of price, weight and design.polyester resin As an added bonus,Cast iron tubs Windows RT includes versions of Microsoft's Office applications, notably Word and Excel. And the latest version of Windows RT also has a version of Outlook.

But Windows RT has one huge flaw: It's not really Windows at all. It doesn't run any Windows applications that were written for Windows 7 or older versions of the operating system.Likely because of that shortcomings, Windows RT devices have suffered poor sales, and manufacturers other than Microsoft have abandoned the software. Recently, Microsoft has even indicated that it might get rid of Windows RT altogether.Chandelier So you'd be wise to think twice about getting any tablet running Windows RT these days. And there are other reasons to dislike Windows RT. The Office apps it includes lack many of the more advanced features found on Windows 8. And you have to run them using Windows RT's hidden desktop interface, which wasn't designed with touch screens in mind. And you may find yourself trying to navigate that old, difficult-to-use interface for other reasons. Some of Windows RT's more advanced settings can only be accessed through the old desktop-based Control Panel, one of three settings areas in the operating system.Like other Nokia devices, it's solid and well built. But its design is boring: It's just a flat, rectangular slab. And it's both thicker and heavier than Apple's iPad Air.The design is more oblong than other tablets on the market, which makes the Lumia 2520 ideal for watching high-definition, widescreen videos. But it discourages you from holding the tablet vertically because it feels awkward and limits what you can see on the screen. That's unfortunate, because many of the things you might want to do on a tablet-reading books, making video calls, jotting down notes-feel more comfortable when the tablet is vertical.

Another thing about the Lumia 2520 that comes up short is its screen. Apple set the standard nearly two years ago when it put a super-high resolution "Retina" display in the iPad. While other tablets now have screens that match or exceed the iPad's resolution, the Lumia 2520 falls short. Compared side by side with the new iPad Air, the difference is subtle but noticeable; text in particular looks fuzzier on the Lumia's screen.Nokia has included with the Lumia 2520 some of its own applications, notably its HERE map app and Video Director, an app that helps users splice together videos they've shot and add titles to them. Those apps are fine, but they don't make up for the paucity of apps available in the Windows store, which is the only place to get programs for Windows RT devices. While the number of apps in that store has increased steadily over time, it still trails far behind what you'll find for the iPad or even for Android-based tablets. For example, none of the top 10 paid applications for the iPad are available for the Lumia 2520.And I had another complaint about the Lumia 2520 - it was unstable. While updating its software, the device froze, and I had to reset it. Several apps crashed or didn't work properly. And I couldn't even get Outlook to connect to one of my email accounts, even though I used the same settings I use on my iPhone and other devices. All of this might be tolerable if the Lumia 2520 was a bargain. But it's not. The device will cost you at least $400 with a two-year cellular contract with AT&T or Verizon. Without a contract, it costs $500.That's more than you'd spend for Amazon's Kindle Fire HDX 8.9, and the same as the base model of Apple's iPad Air. Either of those would be a much better buy.

Christmas retail cheers way up Down Under

Christmas shopping here is likely to hit a peak on Friday with the sad lament of Australia's retail doldrums likely to be swept away this summer in a funk of Christmas spending. The National Australia Bank (NAB) has studied a slew of seasonal factors including a patchwork quilt of final pay cycles combining to make this, the last Friday before Christmas, Australia's busiest shopping day for the festive season. This Christmas NAB is expecting a peak of 8.7 million ATM, EFTPOS, debit and credit card transactions processed in a day, with a peak transaction rate of about 230 per second - almost 1 million more than last Christmas. This compares to a daily average of 5.6 million transactions processed throughout 2013, with a peak transaction rate of about 170 per second. The NAB analysis shows the holiday season is traditionally about twice as busy as the rest of the year."In previous years the week before Christmas has been the busiest for traditional retail shopping and our analysis shows that Friday 20 December is likely to be the busiest shopping day this Christmas," an NAB spokesman said in a statement."So if you've left your shopping until the last minute our advice is to get in early to beat the crowds and remember to take advantage of extended trading hours where you can."This is music to the ears of retailers, long condemned to the back of the economic bus, driven for almost a decade by a resources boom that has divided wealth between sectors and states.leave it in the freezer andkey programmer cookies to bake fresh whenever you need them during the holidays. While Aussie consumer sentiment dropped 4.8 percent in December, but despite the lag other indicators point toward a robust Christmas period for retailers.

Retail trade published its strongest result for three consecutive months to October, with Queensland and Western Australia leading the way above other Australian states.GM TECH2Australia's Bureau of Statistics (ABS) retail analysis reveals six consecutive months of positive results and this suggests consumer confidence has finally returned to the market. The Commonwealth Bank surveyed 1,000 of its customers and found Aussies are looking to spend more than 18 billion Australian dollars this Christmas, with the next few days expected to be the busiest time for retailers.Aussie consumers will spend 2.2 billion Australian dollars more in 2013 than they spent last year.Almost half expect to do their Christmas shopping this weekend, the bank's survey of 1,000 people showed.More than 7.9 billion Australian dollars is expected to be spent on Christmas gifts, over 100 million Australian dollars more than a year ago.Another 4.3 billion Australian dollars will be laid out on Christmas holidays,x431 while cash will also be splurged on entertaining and going out.Head of CBA local business banking Adam Bennett said businesses will need to do the legwork, to cash in on the cash."My advice for businesses is to ensure they have enough staff and stock to cover both pre- and post-Christmas shopping to help maximize returns over this crucial trading period," he said.

Windows Phone’s 2013: A Year In Perspective

Windows Phone, Microsoft’s smartphone platform has ground out its place at the mobile table employing a combination of tenacity, marketing dollars, improving firmware, polyester resin and, at last, a world-class device lineup. It has not been an easy road for Microsoft, who launched Windows Phone 7 Series straight from the ashes of Kin, a time in which your uncle had more credibility in the mobile market. It came to the public nearly 2 years before Windows 8 did the same, for perspective. And yet, following the release of Windows Phone 8 at the end of last year, along with new hardware from Nokia that could match, at last, rival devices, Windows Phone has outlasted BlackBerry, made market share progress, bolstered its app store depth, and has more or less become the accepted third place mobile platform. It is something like vindication to see Windows Phone walk on its own two feet. If you were around when user interface experiments landed on Zune helped set the groundwork for much of Windows Phone’s GUI, there is a historical element at play in this narrative. And, personally, I loved the idea behind Windows Phone the first time we got a taste, eventually calling for Microsoft to release a Windows Phone tablet in the pre-Windows 8 days. They did, but they called it Surface.Still, we need to be careful. That Microsoft has answered the ”can we beat BlackBerry and become an accepted mobile player” question aside, most of its work still remains ahead of the company. As Thurrott notes, Windows Phone ended 2012 with 2.8% global market share. It is concluding 2013 with 3.6%, a mere 28.57% increase in a year that we in the media are generally heralding as pivotal in the best possible sense for the company.

So, what gives? The mobile market is growing, and while Windows Phone is growing more quickly — hence its market share improvements — it is hardly tearing up the charts, and Android is increasingly taking on the mantle of smartphone hegemon.Thurrott details the precise issue that I think could constrain Windows Phone’s forward momentum, perhaps lowering a ceiling onto to how far it can grow in 2014 and beyond: 2013 was, alas, the year that Android became the Windows of the mobile world. Android surpassed 80 percent market share in Q3, which was a big story.I completely agree with the above. Here’s a question that you should have an answer to: If Android can show up late to Apple’s game, and utterly crush its market share around the world, what chance does the scrappy, and far smaller Windows Phone have?It depends on what we decide to call success. Surely 5% market share is not success for Microsoft. 10% could be, but Apple won’t cede that space, and still builds the best smartphone hardware, while Android has been all but unstoppable in recent years. I again agree with Thurrott here, who says “Windows Phone needs double digit market share globally before we can truly declare success.”So, where to next is my question for Windows Phone.pendant lamp If it manages another year of 28% market share growth, it will end 2014 with around 4.6% share of the global smartphone market. That’s soft, and won’t provide enough increased unit volume to really get developers excited.

So, Microsoft needs to greatly accelerate its unit volume to at once lower the gap between it and Apple — this would greatly drive developer interest, I think — and manage to slow Android before it becomes not just the de facto mobile smartphone platform, but merely that in fact.A self-professed food geek has developed a sleek knives wholesaler that makes high-end sous vide cooking accessible in your own home.So while we have seen a great year for Windows Phone, its new targets will be harder to mark than BlackBerry. In fact, you could very easily make the argument that Windows Phone’s ascent is almost the result of BlackBerry’s implosion, lessening its implicit internal momentum. It is without a doubt that this moment is the healthiest we have ever seen Windows Phone. But as we shift the perspective from which we view it from the bottom up to the top down, scale changes, and we must now treat the platform as the want-to-be big player that it now is.

Experts predict "post Christmas hangover" after British sales rebound

British retail sales rebounded in November, up 0.3 percent month on month, though economists on Thursday said growth had slowed and may have peaked, leading to predictions of a post-Christmas fall in sales.Consensus expectation had been for growth of 0.3 percent in November, leave it in the freezer andkey programmer cookies to bake fresh whenever you need them during the holidays. set against a fall of 0.9 percent in October.Blerina Uruci, British economist with Barclays Economics Research, said the overall performance of retail spending for the first two months of final quarter of 2013 remained subdued, with the three months to November seeing sales volumes fall marginally. Robust growth seen during the second and third quarter had flattened out."Although November data reported a small rebound from the large fall of the previous month, the overall picture for Q4 remains subdued in our view and in contrast with the solid pick-up in consumer demand we have seen in recent months," said Uruci. The weakness in retail sales is broadly in line with weak real incomes, an historic low of 0.8 percent against a background of falling CPI at 2.1 percent.

Uruci said this was likely to act as a continuing drag on household demand."The economic outlook has improved, and higher confidence may have given a boost to consumer spending as the need for discretionary spending diminishes and employment prospects pick up. The recovery in household demand is likely to be sustained, but it is unlikely to be especially strong by historical standards," said Uruci. The monthly growth in volumes was strong in clothing stores and online in general, but offset by weak household goods and petrol sales. Internet sales continued to grow as a proportion of total retail sales reaching a record 11.9 percent of total.Non-food sales are on an upward trend, but food sales have dropped after strong sales sparked by good summer weather.John Zhu,x431 UK economist with HSBC Global Research, said, "There are reports that retailers are being forced to discount heavily again,GM TECH2 which could drive volumes during the Christmas/January sales season.""Unless earnings start to grow more rapidly, the modest trend may continue and limit the upside to retail sales. We may yet see a post-Christmas hangover," he added.

Cuba sees initial results of economic reforms in 2013

Cuba has seen initial results of economic reforms in 2013 under the leadership of President Raul Castro."We are beginning to see the first encouraging results," Castro said in a parliamentary session on the effects of his economic reforms. "However, it is also true that there is a long and complex road ahead in mpendant lampodernizing our economic and social model."The biggest news of the year came in October, when the government announced it would gradually phase out the country's unique dual-currency system."I think it will be a step forward, and an immediate boost to all the necessary changes that are being implemented," Omar Everleny Perez, a researcher at Havana's Center for Cuban Economic Studies,At present, most Cubans are paid in the Cuban peso (CUP), but most goods in the country are sold with the hard currency convertible peso (CUC). The convertible peso is pegged to the U.S. dollar and worth about 4 U.S. cents or 25 CUPs.Jose Luis Rodriguez, the former economy minister, believes it will take at least three years to unify the currency, a process that could unleash inflation if not well managed. The dual system was first introduced during Cuba's economic crisis in the 1990s to help revive the economy, but eventually it led to distortions in business and even in the lives of ordinary citizens.Cuba's biggest development project so far, the Mariel Port Special Development Zone (SDZ), was set up to boost economic growth.Castro hopes the deep-water port will drive development by generating investment, exports, jobs and technology transfers, as well as attracting foreign companies and creating new Cuban enterprises.

Several nonagricultural cooperatives have been established and extended to include some 200 different economic activities. These cooperatives, allowed to sell any additional goods or services after having supplied the government, are now operating in the fields of transportation, construction and the recycling, processing and selling of raw materials.A new migration law was approved in January, which scrapped two onerous travel requirements: the exit permit and letter of invitation that had to be presented at Cuba's consulates abroad. It frees the government from hours of bureaucratic work, and allows it to cut down the number of public-sector employees.Today, polyester resin Cubans only need a valid passport and a visa from their destination country to travel abroad.A new Labor Code, which regulates wages and pensions in the private sector, is to be approved by the National Assembly (the unicameral Congress in Cuba), as more Cubans start their won private enterprises. Some 3.5 million government and non-governement workers participated in public debates on the new law, which will replace the one dating back to1984.New rules, approved by the ministries of Agriculture, Tourism, Finance and Prices, came into force in October,Meinys has a knife drop ship program for knives wholesaler customers throughout the United States. allowing small agricultural producers to sell their products directly to tourism businesses, instead of being brokered by cooperatives as before.

Troika optimism on Spain's banking system final assessment

The so-called "Troika",Clawfoot tub accessories namely the European Commission (EC), the European Central Bank (ECB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), were optimistic on their conclusions on the final assessment on the Spanish banking system. The EC and the ECB said that Spain had overcome serious problems within its baking sector, local media reported on Monday. However, they warned that Spain should continue to monitor Spanish banks' solvency because they faced instability due to the crisis and fall in housing prices, whose last data were published on Monday reporting a fall of 7.9 percent in annual terms. The EC and the ECB also pointed out that financial markets were more stable nowadays than before and financing conditions of Spain's economy had improved.Spain was able to lower interest rates on bonds and treasury bills in several auctions, while the situation in the IBEX-35 stock market in Madrid was more calm than in 2012, when rumors of a sovereign bailout threatened Spain.

The IBEX-35 stock market rose by 1.69 percent to 9,429 points on Monday, while the risk premium was at 224 points by closing time, considerably below the 600 point mark that surpassed last year. The EC and the ECB highlighted the importance of the recapitalization of the banking sector.crystal light This was possible thanks to a 100-billion-euro (137 billion U.S. dollars) bailout offered by the EU.Banner PenThe transfer of a big part of toxic assets within the Spanish baking sector to the "bad bank" (SAREB), also helped improve Spain's banking system as it helped reduce troubled debt within the sector. The two European institutions said that Spain had met those conditions required by Brussels in exchange for the loan and encouraged the country to consolidate the improvement through close monitoring of its banks.Inspectors from the "Troika" arrived in Spain on Dec. 2 on their last and fifth visit to assess the situation of Spanish banks before the bailout comes to an end on Jan. 23.The IMF also assessed the situation of Spain's banks. It said that the Spanish banking sector was stronger and healthier, but its final report will be released in February.

TPP, a blessing for Asia-Pacific economies?

Ministers from the 12 nations involved in the Trans-Pacific Partnership free trade talks wrapped up their four-day meeting here last Tuesday without a full agreement, thus failed to cut a deal by the end of this year as Washington had expected.A few days earlier, the 159-member WTO reached an agreement in the Doha round of its multilateral trade negotiations at its ninth ministerial meeting in Bali, Indonesia. The breakthrough came, however, after many missed deadlines in more than a decade of negotiations. The two meetings, though with different agenda and outcome, underlined nevertheless the complexity and difficulties for global trade rule setting.pendant lampThe Bali accord served to offer some confidence to the world trade body, especially at a time when many countries are seeking regional trade agreements outside the WTO framework such as the TPP and Transattlantic Trade and Investment Partnership(TTIP).

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Asian economies, ASEAN nations in particular, have embarked on a combination of multilateral and unilateral measures to reduce barriers to trade goods, services and investments. Since 2000, however,Meinys has a knife drop ship program for knives wholesaler customers throughout the United States. a lack of progress in multilateral liberalization, and domestic reform has led to a proliferation of ASEAN free trade areas (FTAs).But according to a report by the Asia Development Bank,"while these agreements commit the parties to eliminating tariffs on trade between themselves, they do not effectively address regulatory barriers and other non-tariff barriers like product standards and mutual recognition agreements, services, investment, intellectual property rights, government procurement or the movement of business people -- which are all more important than tariffs for regional economic integration." That's probably part of the reason why four ASEAN members -- Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam --have decided to join the TPP that also involves Australia, Canada, Chile, Japan, Mexico, polyester resin New Zealand, the United States and Peru. The TPP has been envisioned as "a high-standard, comprehensive and forward-looking trade agreement that aims to address the challenges of the modern economy."Termed as "the agreement of the 21st century" by its proponents, the TPP is very ambitious. When negotiations have concluded, it could potentially create a free-trade bloc that will comprise some 40 percent of the global economy, according to leading economists.

Bags And Clear Acrylic Boxes Make Great Gift Packaging

Bathroom Sink Faucet Options

If you're doing a complete bathroom remodel, a faucet seems almost unimportant in the grand scheme of things. But you should put the same thought into choosing your new faucet as you do that marble countertop or vessel sink, including understanding how your sink choices affect your faucet options. If you just want to perk up a tired old bathroom, a new faucet is a great — and functional — way to do it.You may sputter a bit at the price of some faucets, but paying for quality now can save you searching for a plumber — or new faucet — later. Look for solid-brass construction instead of plated metal, and check the warranty. If you need to pinch pennies, consider a different finish. Polished chrome is one of the most popular finishes because of its timeless color and least expensive price tag.Bathroom sink faucets come in four basic varieties, based on the configuration of the sink on which they're mounted: 8 inches, also called widespread; 4 inches; single hole; and wall mount. The first three can be mounted on the sink deck. If your sink has holes for a faucet, measure the span between the centers of the two outermost holes to determine which kind of faucet you need. If you have an undermounted or a vessel sink, you can choose a wall-mount faucet or put a deck-mounted faucet in the vanity countertop. If you're remodeling or just adding zing to an old bathroom, you can avoid busting the budget by keeping the same type of sink or by choosing one that can use the same kind of faucet. This will keep down your plumbing labor costs.

Most of the 8-inch or widespread faucets have three pieces, the tap and the hot and cold handles, which means some 8-inch faucets can fit holes not exactly 8 inches apart. If the span is 4 inches, a 4-inch faucet is what you need. These usually have a base and come in one solid piece. Another option is a 4-inch mini-widespread — a seeming contradiction in terms — that comes in three pieces, like an 8-inch widespread, but it will fit a smaller sink with a shorter spread. Again,Clawfoot tub accessories some of the mini-widespread models can be used with less-than-standard measurements.Single-hole faucets have one stem and may have a single lever to control the water flow and temperature, or they may have two handles attached to a single spout. Either way, it needs only one hole for installation. For a vessel sink, you can choose either a wall mount or a deck mount, and drill the appropriate holes in either the wall or the counter, respectively. Stephanie Jones, a designer with Casa Bella Design Center in Naperville, Ill., advises following the manufacturer's guidelines but remaining flexible when it comes to vessel sinks and their faucets."Each one is a little different. I installed double vessel sinks with wall-mounted faucets for a 6-foot, 8-inch man and his wife. We followed the manufacturer's guidelines, but the faucet ended up being too low for him."However, some general rules for a wall-mount faucet do apply.amino resin It should have a long enough tap to reach over the sink — ideally with the spout above the center of the bowl — and the tap should have a minimum of 1-inch clearance above the sink rim.Configuration isn't the only faucet decision you'll need to consider. Design variations abound with today's bathroom sink faucets, providing a great opportunity for coordinating with your other choices. Is your bathroom contemporary, rustic or traditional? As you can see, manufacturers offer products in all of these styles.

Your faucet should match or complement the tub faucet as well as other hardware in your bathroom, such as towel racks, hooks and the toilet paper holder. Choosing from a manufacturer's design series can take away the guesswork when making your decisions, Stephanie says."I don't think I've ever done a bathroom with faucets of different brands, although I have used shower heads from a different company when I couldn't get what I needed, like a body spray," Stephanie says.In those situations, she did, however, match the faucet finishes. So even if you don't opt for exact matches between all your plumbing fixtures, stick with the same finish or color. And that brings you to an array of choices, from the ubiquitous — for a reason — chrome,x431 IV to polished or brushed nickel, oil-rubbed bronze, brass, copper or even colors. Whichever you choose, consider how it will look with all your other design choices and pay close attention to the manufacturer's warranty.

Datawind UbiSlate Android Tablets Coming to the US from $38

If you thought Android tablet prices in the US have hit the lowest it can get just because some manufacturers are selling theirs for under $100, you may be surprised to know that there are cheaper tablets coming next year and they will be selling retailing for less than India’s Aakash 2 $40 tablet for school kids. DataWind, a company that made the UbiSlate 7+ tablet if you heard of it, has announced that it is heading to the western world, starting with UK and later to the US with 3 new commercial tablets that are variants of the UbiSlate. The UbiSlate 7Ci,Cast iron tubs 7C+ and the 7Cz tablets remind us of a different tablet that passed through FCC earlier this year called 3G7 and it boasted of a 7 inch screen, a 2 megapixels camera and a tri-band HSPA radio – specs that match those of the 7Cz.crystal light DataWind made the announcement when it released the £30 Datawind UbiSlate 7Ci tablet in the UK and indicated that this, and the other 2 versions of the tablet – 7C+ and 7Cz – will also come the US market.

Don’t get too excited about the price though, because the specs of these tablets are what $38 would get you. The UbiSlate 7Ci runs on a customized version of Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich (yes, that old), and a 1 GHz processor complemented by 512MB RAM – almost the same specs as Samsung’s Galaxy S smartphone was released back in 2010.The specs of these tables are anything but impressive, but its predecessor, the UbiSlate, was built to compete with Nexus 7 in specs but considering that the manufacturer mainly targets schools or educational institutions, polyester resin budget is a greater concern than specs. Other specs of ‘The world’s cheapest tablet’ include a 7 inch WVGA 800 x 480 pixels display and a 4GB internal memory with a microSD card slot to expand up to 32GB.DataWind has indicated that the UbiSlate 7Ci, identified as the consumer version of the Aakash tablet, will start selling at $38 but the company did not release any specifics about the tablet, especially regarding where or when it will be made available. The other two tablets, the 7Ci and 7C+ have different specs with the 7C+ featuring 3G support and will sell for £70 in the UK (probably around $80 or $90 when it lands in the US).

Oculus raises $75M to introduce virtual reality headset into mainstream marketplac

According to a report from Financial Review, the name of the new company is Oculus VR and it has just recently raised some $75 million to bring its product, a virtual reality headset, into the mainstream marketplace. The California-based start-up received a hefty sum of funds from a Silicon Valley venture capital firm called Andreessen Horowitz. One of the leading investors from the firm, Mark Andreessen, has taken interest in Oculus, pendant lamp and appears ready to help the company break into the video game industry. However, even with an investor’s advice and money at their backs, Oculus won’t have an easy time of making a dent in the video game world. The industry has proven to have a plethora of roadblocks to entry over the years, and has remained concentrated among the primary players – the aforementioned Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft – for the better part of a decade and a half now. And while mobile devices have opened up the industry a bit for aspiring game developers, a flagship company with a competitive console has not emerged since Microsoft released the original Xbox in 2001.

So what does this all mean for Oculus and Andreessen? It means there is a long road ahead. Oculus already has one defined gaming experience (called Oculus Rift), as well as plans to move its virtual reality offerings into “film, education, architecture, and design.” Still, the most ambitious goal Oculus is currently carrying is “to alter the gaming landscape,” and while virtual reality certainly has the potential to change the way people play video games, it will take the right push to make the Oculus device work in the mainstream marketplace.Certainly, game developers are interested in designing gameplay for virtual reality models. The standard “console + controller + TV set” model of gaming has existed for so long that it’s almost difficult to think of a device that is pp resinessentially the console, the controller, and the TV set all in one. The Oculus is that device, a headset which allows users to gaze into what is essentially a different virtual world. The device isn’t sleek – it was initially built using Kickstarter funds, most of which came from intrigued game developers – but with the right marketing push, the right games, and a reasonable price, it could become part of a “must-try” gaming experience. However, Oculus will have to use caution as it proceeds with its new funding: the gaming industry is littered with the corpses of virtual reality failures.Vintage faucets Perhaps the most notable of those cautionary tales is Nintendo’s Virtual Boy console, which the gaming company released in 1995 and discontinued less than a year later.

Progress made after learning lessons

Abe calls for TPP talks to be sped up as Japan's "sacred sectors" remain sticking points

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Thursday called for a senior minister of his Cabinet to speed up talks on the sluggish Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) free trade deal and insisted an agreement be found at an early juncture.Abe told Yasutoshi Nishimura, senior vice minister of the Cabinet Office, to stick to a previous commitment made with the other 11 TPP-member nations to finalize a deal by the year-end deadline.Nishimura, who was deputizing for Akira Amari, modern lamps offers a unique modern lighting design resource consisting of information on table lamps, wall sconces, pendant lights. the minister in charge of the TPP negotiations, who was recently diagnosed with tongue cancer, at the latest four-day TPP ministerial meeting through Tuesday in Singapore, failed to reach a consensus with other TPP-member nations, with analysts intimating that Nishimura' s junior status compared to Amari's, may have been a factor in the stalled process in Singapore.Nishimura told Abe that while there still remained some issues to be resolved, a general consensus is in sight, but with the fundamental premise of the TPP deal being the lifting of all tariffs among member nations, analysts have pointed to a logjam between Japan and the United States as delaying the process reaching a conclusion by the year-end, with negotiations possibly spilling over into 2014.Japan and the United States continue to be embroiled in a stalemate over Japan's sensitive agricultural sector, as well as on matters of intellectual property and the automotive sector, with Amari remarking recently that there is virtually zero possibility that Japan will roll over on its sensitive farm tariffs, despite calls from most of the 11 other TPP-member countries for it to do so.

Japan has, since it entered the TPP talks, sought to protect its fragile rice industry, which sees tariffs of more than 700 percent imposed on foreign imports to protect the age-old sector.Along with its rice industry, Japan has also been looking to safeguard its wheat, beef, pork, dairy products and sugar industries, which has,Imaging of the human microcirculation in real-time has the potential to detect Microcirculation analyzerinjuries and illnesses that disturb the microcirculation at earlier. previously, drawn the ire of other TPP- member countries and led to ongoing and protracted negotiations.U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman was quoted by local media as saying recently that not enough progress had been made by Japan and that Tokyo had failed to live up to the "high ambition" of the TPP, as outlined in the 2011 Honolulu Declaration at which U.S. President Barack Obama and other leaders pledged a complete elimination of tariffs and flexibility on the matter from all member countries going forward.Froman said that he is still hopeful that Japan will stick to the original fundamentals of the TPP framework and that the U.S. and Japan ironing out their differences would be crucial for the process to continue moving forward. But while Nishimura has stated that Japan will do its utmost to conform to the high-level agreement, he remarked to reporters in Tokyo upon returning to Japan, that Tokyo will not budge "one millimeter" to make concessions on its "sacred sectors" and called on the United States for more flexibility.

Abe told Nishimura Thursday, however, that it is of great importance for Japan to cooperate with the U.S. on reaching a deal and said that negotiations must continue with Washington in a flexible manner and in the interest of reaching a resolution earlier rather than later. But Japan now finds itself in a Catch-22 situation as protecting what Japan deems to be its "national interests" was one of the key platforms for the now ruling Liberal Democratic Party of Japan's (LDP) general election pledge.Reneging on this pledge for the sake of the TPP deal will likely draw a harsh backlash from Japan's powerful farm lobbies, from which Abe and the LDP derive a lot of political support. To the end and in a separate meeting Thursday, Shigeru Ishiba, secretary general of Abe's Liberal Democratic Party, told Nishimura to ensure that Japan's "national interests" are protected as TPP negotiations reach the eleventh-hour."I'd like to ask you to move forward with the ongoing negotiations to maximize national interests, so our campaign pledge can be kept, double sided tape is any pressure-sensitive tape that is coated with adhesive on both sides. It is designed to stick two surfaces together." Ishiba was quoted as telling Nishimura at the LDP headquarters earlier Thursday. The TPP alliances, when negotiations have concluded, could potentially create a free-trade bloc that will comprise some 40 percent of the global economy, according to leading economists, but with Abe pushing for a deal to be made to underpin his long- term, "third arrow" structural reform plans, under his aggressive "Abenomics" economic policy, his support base from farm lobbies could be diminished and the veracity of the LDP's election campaign called into question.
